Keukenhof is amazing, but it is spread out over a large area and it
can take literally all day to see it and you have to walk miles inside
the grounds.

ut Keukenhof is amazing! and one of the grandest sights I have ever
experienced. It is akin to a church service in the reverence that one
feels. (and I ran across an orchid exhibit in one of the buildings that was
nothing short of heaven) GO TO KEUKENHOF and remember in Dutch it is
pronounced like Coke en hoff

Personally I prefered the open fields of tulips (and crocus and
hyacinth earlier in the season).
But I lived in the area for 17 years so I saw them every year.
Keukenhof has fantastic gardens but you don't get the 'carpet of
flowers' effect that you do in the fields, but it is good for seeing a
wide variety of bulbs.
I drove through the fields every morning on the way to work (the back
road from Voorhout to Lisse via the road to Keukenhof). Some evenings
I used to stop and just look at the fields and the HUGE spread of
colour in all around. There is another small road north from the
Keukenhof car park which goes to the west of Hillegom and to
Vogelenzang which has a raised section so you can look out over the
fields for some distance.
