have an international flight that has a connection time of 55
minutes. The two trips are on the same airlines Alitalia and in the
same terminal (terminal C).

Is it safe? Would the luggage make it?

Thanks

From where to where and terminal C where ?
55 min is usually enough but the whole things depends o lot if you have
to
clear immigration and/or custom in C

In Rome, Italy

But from where to where ? Sorry but the whole thing depends a lot of
that.
Pure domestic connection or an arrival or departure for a destination
outside Schengen or EU ?

If your flight is on time and you are ticketed thru it should be no
problem.
There is no Immigration or Customs to pass thru *within* FCO's Terminal
C.

Go to
http://www.balenablu.it/store/defaul..._fiumicino.gif
Terminal C is in blue.
Even if you had to go from say the satellite terminal in the upper left
corner to the opposite end of 'C' it would take under 15min at a slow
pace.

Is it safe? Would the luggage make it?

The luggage might be a crap shoot though.
But Alitalia does give these short (under 1hr) connections in Rome and
Milan so I guess they make it most of the time, not that they would care
either way.

The baggage handlers there, at least last year, were notoriously
slow....
No clearing for immigration or anything!
Just walking out from one plane to the other.

If your bags are tagged for your ultimate destination, 55 min. will
be plenty of time. I've had flights arrive late enuff that I only had
20 minutes to make to the next gate, and my luggage was fine. If
they don't simply lose it altogether, they'll make it.

About FCO: Domestic (EU) planes are sometimes parked out
on the tarmac with passengers loaded by bus, with international flights
getting VIP slots. Thus, your stated departure time, may
not be your take off-time, but rather your bus-load time. =R=

Insist that your luggage is tagged with the 'Short connection' as well
as the 'Out of Italy' sticker. It should make it unless your inbound
flight is delayed.

If these two flights are on a single ticket, then Alitalia is responsible
if you miss your connection. They have to put you on a later flight.

Which might be much later and/or booked out.
