anyone been to Oman ?
In article 97ebf0d8-81a1-4e6a-95d7-e610a99adc15
@o12g2000vbd.googlegroups.com, Beer Tricks Potter says... highlight for me was the Dhow trip to see Dolphins / Snorkel / Telegraph Island.....although I really enjoyed the authentic feel of the place (not like Dubai) and the lack of tourists Our highlights were the Wahiba desert and the white sand beaches in the south. Plus all those Indian restaurants. we were surprised to see Omani man drinking alcohol in the hotel bars ! I saw that too, in a closed section of the bar. I guess the taxis are expensive because they are driven by locals and not Indians as in Dubai Didn't notice that taxis are expensive. also saw plenty of local women working / driving cars as in a normal country.... Only in Saudi Arabia women are not allowed to drive. -- Alfred Molon http://www.molon.de - Photos of Asia, Africa and Europe |

Presumably this lasted only until the Taliban were displaced from national power. |

Right, though it is worth noting that in May 2001, women were forbidden from driving in Afghanistan under the Taliban. The streets were more safe then ;-) -- Alfred Molon http://www.molon.de - Photos of Asia, Africa and Europe |
