Default Costa Rica in July

Hi folks,

I am about to finish a long period of thesis writing. To celebrate my
wife and I are wanting to go somewhere special on holiday (coming from
the uk).

Costa Rica appeals as we are both interested in wildlife, and we would
both enjoy some trekking. However, we would like to combine some
traveling with some time relaxing on a beach. Thus Costa Rica sounds ideal.

I won't be able to go on holiday probably until July and I know this is
in the rainy season. However, I have heard elsewhere that July has a
'mini summer' where there is a break in the weather. Is this true? If so
how reliable is it?

Also is the weather at this time good enough for the beach break? And if
so would the pacific or the Caribbean coast be best at that time of year?

So many questions.....!!

Thanks for your help

Dave B

Dave,

If the wet season in CR is like Panama - you'll find hot sunny weather
nearly all day long but can have scattered thunderstorms hit in the
afternoon before sunset. It also cools things down quite a bit.

However, CR may have vry different weather.

Hi,
We're trying to make a decision our summer vacation by the end of
this week, and we are seriously considering Panama. But we can only
go from mid-June through mid July and I hear it rains year-round.
That worries me cause we live in Puddletown, Oregon, and we
desperately want some sunny tropical stuff.

Is the rain that bad? Would it spoil a two week snorkeling and beach
trip?

We love latin-america, especially carribean latin-america, and
especially undeveloped areas, for traveling. We spent a month in
Belize and absolutely love that country.

thanks much,
-Matt
