Scuba Diving in Cancun
We have two couples heading to Cancun to stay at Dreams the last week
in May. Thank you to everyone who gave us such great advice to help us narrow our decision down to where to go and what resort to stay at. Now I have another question. I was PADI certified a while ago so I want to take a refresher course before I dive down there, and the guy in the other couple also wants to dive but has never been certified. My understanding is that he can get certified at a local dive shop in a couple of hours with the limitations of going no deeper than 35 feet, and having to stay with a dive master from the shop he was certified at. My question is this; Is it possible to get PADI certified down in Cancun, and if so, how long does it take to get certified? Getting PADI certified would probably be best, but we don't want to waste two or three days of vacation time in Cancun getting certified if that is what it takes. Any input you would have would be greatly appreciated, as well as any recommendations for dive shops and dive tours in Cancun that are good ones. Thanks again for all the great advice, Slacker |

Slacker,
Have your buddy do the classroom work and pool work at home but save the open water dives for Cancun. He must bring evidence that he's completed the courses and pool work. Your local dive shop will be able to help. Saving your open water dives for warm water is very common. I haven't dived in Cancun for a number of years so I can't offer you and help with local shop. Have a great holiday. T "Slacker" wrote in message ... We have two couples heading to Cancun to stay at Dreams the last week in May.
