London: Transport from Heathrow to Slough !!

Hi All,
I'm visiting London with my wife this december.
I'll be starting from New york on Dec 26th night and reaching London
Dec 27th morning 10.00 a.m
at Heathrow airport. Here are the details of the hotel where I've made
reservation.

Quality Hotel Heathrow
London Road
Slough, England SL3 8QB
United Kingdom

I would like to know a economical mode of getting to and from the
airport to this hotel.

Call the hotel. You may very well find they have a Shuttle Bus. Failing that
Slough is very close to Heathrow so a Taxi won't cost to much.

their website says they have a shuttle bus from terminals 1,2 and 3.
Just out of curiosity, did you not ask the hotel..?

Mahesha,

This hotel is *very* close to the airport. By car/taxi I would guess
10 minutes at the most. It is well served by local buses (the number
81 from Heathrow to Slough stops right outside) but because of the
proximity, you will probably be best off catching a cab from the
airport. The cost would be £10 to £15 max.

You may also be interested to know that you will be a mere 5 minute
drunken stumble from a Spearmint Rhino club just down the road from
your hotel. ;-)

I would suggest calling the hotel and have them send one for you, it
wont be a black cab... but the price will be fixed.

Slough isnt London, its a godawful Industrial town that was raped
by the planners in the 60's and it lies 30 miles West of London

As the poet Betjeman said

Come, friendly bombs, and fall on Slough
It isn't fit for humans now,
There isn't grass to graze a cow
Swarm over, Death!

The hotel you have booked isnt even in central Slough but is just of the
Motorway. Staying there is like staying in a motel just off the
New Jersey turnpike.

If you need to be in Slough book a hotel in the centre, otherwise
find a hotel in London

Thats not a problem as the cabbies can return straight to the head
of the queue when they take a fare to an airport hotel, just make
sure the driver knows the destination before he leaves the stand.

There is/used to be a special provision for black cabs at Heathrow doing
local trips which enabled them to return to, or close to, the front of the
line so they weren't losing out on the juicy fares into central London.

Yes it does, but the cabbie needs to tell the dispatcher before he leaves
the rank.
