Thanks Momma,
................................................. ...............................................
A
friend of mine just got back from staying at the Craignair in Booth
Bay Harbor and recommended it. I thought maybe a day there, exploring
Monhegan island perhaps, and then another day further south, perhaps
in Kennebunkport or Portsmouth?

I'm not Momma, but we really liked the Five Gables Inn in East Boothbay when
we stayed there a couple years ago. We also liked Camden and Portsmouth, NH,
both towns with quite a bit to see.

Hi Marianne,

Hey, your input is more than welcome!

I'm kinda hedging on Boothbay Harbor now, as my Frommer's guide
insinuated it was over-rated, and it would add another two hours or so
to our driving time from New Hampshire instead of heading to the
southern coast of Maine. Do you love Boothbay or would you recommend
somewhere else along the coast?

I'm not much of an expert on the Maine coast. And it depends on what you're
interested in. My impression is it's generally less touristy as you go
north. We did spend some time in Ogunquit walking a path along the ocean,
which was pleasant.

I especially like the coast around Boothbay and the mingling of land and
water. East Boothbay is much quieter than Boothbay.
