Savannah? Thanks

Not a single one that I'm aware of.

Savannah is more of an R&B kind of town. If you want country, why not
visit Nashville, TN instead? After all that is country's heart, the
home of "the grand ol' opry" and such.

Well, cat. Not most people. As a lifelong Southerner I can attest to the
fact that millions of people like it. I even like some of it :-)

Where are you from? And where else are you visiting? If you're going by
Macon, Georgia, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame may interest you. You'd be
amazed at how much music has come out of Georgia, from Otis Redding to the
Allman Brothers to gospel singer Hovie Lister, Graham Parsons, Jerry Lee
Lewis, and on and on. As you probably know, early rock'n roll grew out of
country and R&B -- both Southern musical styles.

Gotta go, but if you have any questions drop me a line. I live in Atlanta,
though, not Savannah.

Don't think so, but you could ask the Savannah Visitors Bureau:

Hate is a bit strong. Savannah is simply not a very country place for
most any meaning of the word.

Thanks Sarah..I'm actually from Sydney, Australia. I love country
music (all music actually) and I'll look up the places you've
suggested. This is a bit of a trip for my mum really, she wants to see
New York and Savannah and I offered to take her as my Dad is too sick
to travel. I have 2 weeks vacation only, so we are rushing
everything, but still can't wait. It looks like there are lots of
great places that two 35 and 68 year olds can enjoy.

Didn't mean 'hate' really (sorry if I offended anyone)...but country
music style is not really popular in Australia...although we have some
great artists such as Keith Urban, Kasey Chambers, Lee Kernaghan, Beccy
Cole, Catherine Britt..the list goes on..

Keith Urban is big here now. I like him -- his music as well as his looks!

Macon (where the Hall of Fame is) is about 3 hours from Savannah, across a
very dead area of Interstate 16. I'm not sure I'd make that trip, given the
price of gas today and your limited time (I thought you might be coming
through Atlanta on your way to Savannah, in which case you'd drive through
Macon).

You will find lots of country music on the radio, everywhere in this
country, so make sure you play with the car radio. Smaller towns tend to
have country stations. And stop in truck stops -- they usually have stores
with strong country flavor.

Aussies only get two weeks vacation? Everytime I meet someone from your
country they are out for six months to two years!

Have fun!
