Default Ryanair priority boarding...

Have just booked a couple of tickets with Ryanair, and they seem to have
changed their pricing structure somewhat. For ages, priority boarding used
to come with online check-in, but now I have a sneaking suspicion it's not,
and I have to pay extra. Can anyone confirm either way? Not really fussed if
it was just me, but I'm travelling with an elderly relative, so need to be
able to be sure of bagging two seats together and if we're not near the
front of the queue, as she doesn't walk to fast, there's a chance we'd be on
the plane last and separated.

Nice to see that they've stopped the scam where people with kids of 15 [1]
could get in the first boarding Q.

But I do think that much younger children should be pre-boarded (and no, I
don't have any).

[1] This may not have been the official age, but no-one checked.

I travelled a couple of times on Ryanair with my elderly father, which
was quite useful, I just had to remind him to limp a bit and not take
the stairs two at a time g. That way we got on the plane first. I see
on their website they now say "Reduced mobility/vision impaired
passengers who have pre-advised Ryanair of their condition will be
boarded after general boarding is completed, seats will be reserved
onboard."

What does "pre-advised" mean? Phone their super expensive hotline? Tell
them when you check in?

There's a list of country specific phone numbers
UK is 0871 2460003 (10p per minute)
However it does say you must notify them on day of booking and then
something about only allowing 4 passengers per flight.....

Apparently Ryan Air now offers priority boarding for an extra fee, but there is
a catch... If you purchase it for a flight at an airport/gate that requires the
use of a bus, all it gets you is priority to the bus.

Well it does (usually) get you on the first bus to arrive at the plane.

But I agree this is a stupid scam that they could easily fix by having a
policy like filling by the back doors, empty from the front.
