... One Euro: YES YOU CAN! reads the sign of a beggar sitting by a dumpster in Paris… (Merci à Carine) # Greece is the current embarrassment, with its huge debt. Yes, let's slash the bureaucracy, public spending, etc. Selling off the Greek islands may be demanding too much (a German idea), but don't let's tamper with plutocracy and the capitalist system, as such - the basic cause of world malaise. I liked it when Euro was EMU (European Monetary Union), but it amounts to the same thing. Ostrich is more apt (Austerich?), in that putting your head in the sand means not facing up to reality - of capitalism as an obsolete economic system. Fall of the Berlin Wall didn't usher in a Capitalist Utopia, and the Soviet Union and Communism may have swallowed Western propaganda too readily - instead of merely moderating their system. So, now we're stuck with world-wide capitalism. Have fun! http://preview.tinyurl.com/68c4zEvleths |
