the nightwalk tour starts at 20:00 and finishes at 22:00.
I thought to get out of Cairns at around 17:00 (to allow 3 hours to get
used to the left-side driving) and then the nightwalk tour ends at
22:00 I thought to drive back to Cairns and be there at about 24:00.
Why it's inadvisable ? Bad roads ? Animals ? Lack of road signs ?

I would strongly preffer to spend the night in Cairns, since I'm
planning to take Franklands or Green Island sail the next day.
Please advice

If you're going to do a nightwalk with Cooper Creek Wilderness I
strongly suggest you try emailing Prue and ask her opinion on the
subject. She will be able to provide the best advice but I would be
very surprised if she considers it advisable to drive back to Cairns
at 2200.

Particularly once you get north of The Daintree river crossing the
roads are very narrow and wind sharply around the steep edges of the
hills. They are not particularly special even in the daytime.

I used to live in Townsville which, admittedly, is a lot further
south, but it was generally considered a bad idea to leave major urban
areas at night time in that part of the country unless you were
driving something considerably bigger than the average car (at minimum
a 4x4 with bull bars).

You may well get away with it, if you decide to do it, but if you
don't you will totally ruin what should otherwise be an excellent
holiday.

Hello Simon,
Thanks for Your answer
You had certainly convinced me to drop the nightwalk idea.
What do You think about going to Babinda Boulders for half a day ?
Is it worth a visit ?
Is the driving there during the midday is safe ?
Thanks a lot
Alex
