Default Early April to visit Yosemite National Park, CA

Hi,
I am from Hong Kong normally I visit US every year in early April. Last
April I have visited Grand Ganyon, Bryce and Zion National Park. It was cold
and actually we hit snow while we were in Zion.

I was planing for next trip and amazed by the beatuiful picture of Yosemite
National Park. I just have the same question if April is the right time to
visit Yosemite NP, as some of the road are still close during that time.

Any comment is appreciated. Better still, alternative suggestion is welcome.
Time is pretty much fixed for me, but as I fly from Hong Kong, I have the
option of selecting the city to land, so I can start my journey anywhere,
then I will fly to Las Vegas where I will attend my business function in
first week of April.

Regards, Martin

One more thing: I am not wild camp or skiing type, but like nature scene and
meusem.

Yosemite in April should be fine, the main valley
will be open and but its a little early for the wild flowers
and the waterfalls wont be at a peak yet . The Tioga pass and
Glacier Point roads will be closed though so your
route from Las Vegas will ahve to be via Bakersfield

Check on local conditions before setting out.

April is a beautiful time to visit Yosemite. As Keith noted, the
Glacier Point and Tioga Pass roads won't be open, but you can
have a wonderful time in Yosemite Valley (and Wawona, if you
choose to drive there).

The waterfalls will be wonderful in April. In fact, the dedication
of the new Lower Yosemite Fall area (new paths, picnic area, etc.)
is going to be next April, because the falls will be running very
well by then. You'll be able to hike up to see Vernal Fall, and of
course you'll be able to walk around everything on the valley floor.

If you want to stay overnight inside the park, be sure to call
for reservations as soon as you know your schedule.

Any time is a great time to visit Yosemite. During April, you should expect
snow on the ground at higher elevations (hence the road closures) and cold
nights at lower elevations. Still, the scenery is magnificent and the park
won't be as crowded as in May or June.

It does snow in April sometimes, even in the valley. When we were
there last, in April, it was very warm at the beginning of the trip,
but on the third day, the valley was covered with about 8 inches
of snow, making the trails something of a challenge. Luckily, we
hadn't planned to drive that day, and the roads were all plowed
when we left (actually, I think the route to Fresno was still only
open to 4WD or chains, but we went out to Visalia). Indeed, the
waterfalls are great in April, but it's probably best to leave some
flexibility in the trip in case there is snow.

Sorry, I knew something was wrong with this... those are the two
main routes out of King's Canyon / Sequoia, not Yosemite. The
routes I intended to name there are 120 & 140 respectively.

Thanks for all the comment. Sounds like this is something I am looking
forward to. I will start collecting information about the Park.
