Company sponsorship
Hi,
I have just started a job that is a 4 month contract and im here on a working holiday maker visa. At the end of the 4 months I have the option of extending and they will offer me sponsorship. It is something that I really want to do but Ive only just arrived in Australia and would like to first earn money, go travelling for a bit and then try and get sponsorship then. Would it mean, if I were to let this company sponsor me, that Im kinda stuck here? Do companies keep you job open or is this just wishful thinking? I dont mind leaving coz Im confident I could find work again but not really sure of the ins and outs of it, plus Im kinda liking that place I work for. Ive also read that if you work for 6 months you can go off travelling and it does affect you visa. Is this the case? Ive also been told that if you work/stay for 6 months in the one place (ie sydney area) you get taxed at residential tax rate (about 14% i think), that might be worth considering too. Anyway, I really want to go travelling after work as much as I want to perhaps live here but trying to get a better understanding of what options i have. Any help on the matter would be much appreciated. Thanks Burnsy |
