Default Polar Bears in Churchhill Manitoba

Good health and high spirits!

Has anyone out there ever gone to Churchhill to see the bears? If so, I
would like to know how it was done. Tour, individual? fly, train, or drive
to Thompson and take a flight or train.. etc..

Best time to go (far as I can see it would be from the middle of Oct to the
middle of Nov)

best budget trip..Not looking to spend 5G's for a week!!

thanx in Advance
Tashi

For a budget trip, just stay indoors somewhere in town before the
dumpsters are picked up. If you look out a window facing any dumpster,
you'll see polar bears dumpster diving. Or is that another northern
town I am thinking about?

Tashi,

On watching the National Geographic website several tour companies
were listed. It is very expensive to go. I just returned from seeing
the Grizzlies at Katmai with Hallobay.

Go to hallobay.com and there is a link to the program they provide for
the polar bears. Simyra (one of the owners) is fabulous and if the
program that she puts together there is half as good as the one for
ghe grizzlies, you won't be unhappy.

There are several other tour companies, but they take you places and
leave you there for two days, where you could see the whole thing in 4
hours. I have not spoken to anyone who has gone with Simyra, but I
have heard from others who wished that they had done something
differently.

Simyra also limits the number of people in her tundra buggies because
others load them up and then you can't get out on the observation
decks or even see a window.

Good luck with your search.

Janice
