Default how paranoid is Schiphol?

I haven't been to Schiphol in years but will go through it on
my way to Istanbul shortly. Do they have any special paranoias
I ought to know about? - i.e. is it going to be like a typical
UK airport or more civilized, along the lines of Prague?

How do you spend a couple of hours there without getting fleeced?

Sorry: I don't have an answer to your question because I haven't been
through Schipol recently either.

Your supplementary question suggests that maybe you feel some
paranoia.

Have a beer and meet somebody new. Throw your money away in the casino.
See art from the museums. Shop, shop, shop, etc.

I think you may have a bit of paranoia yourself if you worry about such
things. And I hate to break it to you, but all the EU airports are now
adopting the recent UK security restrictions, which is a pain in the
neck, but there you go. I noticed this markedly on flights in the last
few weeks from Barcelona. The lines are also longer too, unfortunately.
I don't know how your return leg will be affected, but you'll return
into the problem at Schipol again.

Reading a book or listening to music is free.
