Default visitor visa info for"Visa National" countries for UK

Well you have to start paying to get some information on visas if you
want to phone the embassy up in Oz!

So to save a few bucks......

I am
in Oz and would be doing a tour of Europe and would need to be in UK
for around 6 days. What sort of visa do i have to get ?

Also can
anyone let me know how long it is currently taking to get such a visa
in Canberra ?

Cheers

Consult http://bhc.britaus.net/Visas/visadefault.asp
You can now apply for visa online. Once your application is lodged online,
you just send in or take your passport, photos, supporting documents and fee
(around £36)to Canberra. They usually try to issue a straightforward
visitor's visa within a few days, and usually same day service if you go in
person. But you must have all the documents required, like bank statements,
travel plan, evidence that you will leave the country at the end of your
visit (job, education, commitment at home etc).

Try visiting the ukvisas website. It states that most people who are
not intending to work, and who wish to stay for six months or less,
should get a visitor's visa, and that this is usually issued within 24
hours of application.

To where in Europe are you going? If you need visas, you will probbaly need
one for the Schengen area (Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Italy,
Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Finland, Iceland
and Norway), and one for UK. For Schengen, you apply to your main
destination country, or if that cannot be ascertained, country of entry to
Schengen.

and
http://www.ecdel.org.au/eu_guide/faqsvisas.htm

For the UK, follow through
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/

and the interactive 'do I need a visa' should tell you if you do and what
sort.

According to the Visas FAQ linked from the British High Commission in Aus at
http://bhc.britaus.net/About_the_UK/...ult.asp?id=379

Applications are taking between 3-4 weeks to process at this time. Canberra
also offer a same day, priority service, provided all documentation is in
order and you do not have an adverse immigration history. If you do not
submit all required documents, your application will be delayed.
