Cheapest hotels are usually the budget motel types, like Travelodge, there
is one next to Harry Ramsdens, not far from Glasgow city centre for about
£40.00 a night, that gives you a double bed and a sofa that sleeps two and
it's within 10 minutes walk of the city centre, near a bus route and not too
far from the metro (underground).

I just stayed in the Jury's Glasgow which is on the west side and on a
bus line to downtown. Nice hotel with a health club. Not too convenient
to night life, but if you have car, it is on the Great Western Road and
about 5 minutes from the City Center.
