What a ****head, counting hasn't even started yet. The next paragraph from the same article: "Initial results from Saturday's landmark voting are not expected for days. But reports by Iraqi media and interviews by The Associated Press suggest candidates backing Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had strong showings in the crucial Shiite heartland in southern Iraq." I think they predicted the same thing with Fatah in Palestine if memory serves me correct, then when they actually counted the votes Hamas won. |

Not one brigade has been withdrawn from Iraq, despite all the Bush blather about "victory". Why not? First we had stay until the WMDs could be found Then we had to stay until an interim government was in place Then we had to stay until Saddam was captured Then we had to stay until a government could be elected Then we had to stay until a constitution could be voted on Then we had to stay until parlimentary elections could be held Then we had to stay until Iraqi units would "stand up" Then we had to stay to give Iraqs government "breathing room" Then we had to stay so Iraq could meet it's "benchmarks". Then we had to stay until "the Surge" could be tried. And now we are staying until.......? Don't forget you had to stay to stop torture at places like Abu Ghraib by Saddam. |

In a statement, Obama welcomed the millions of Iraqis who voted peacefully with few reports of problems. Sunnis, who boycotted the 2005 election, turned out in force..... "The elections were managed and organized by the Iraqi government with vital assistance from the United Nations Assistance Mission to Iraq," Obama said. "Iraqi and military forces helped secure the polling sites and protected voters as they cast their ballots. This important step forward should continue the process of Iraqis taking responsibility for their future." |
