Delta and Carry-On Policy
I'd like to carry on my small suitcase (should meet reqs.)
and a small "daypack" on my Delta flights (SEA-CVG-AMS and MUC-ATL-SEA) but wonder if they will allow it. Does anybody have any experience with carry-on luggage on Delta that would care to comment or advise? They say "one carry-on and one personal item" with personal item defined as a purse or diaper bag. Will they hassle me for my small daypack? Maybe I'll just claim it's my "man-purse"! Also, will not checking luggage cause any red flags to go up?? I don't want to be on any kind of list!! Thanks in advance! Gerry |

As long as one of them will fit under the seat in front of you, should be
ok. Matt "Javaman" wrote in message ... Matt wrote in message ... As long as one of them will fit under the seat in front of you, should be ok. That used to be the yardstick, but the US airlines have clamped down recently. I don't know how big a 'daypack' is, but I suspect it doesn't qualify as a personal item. Not checking bags by itself should not get you the dreaded SSSS unless you meet another of the criteria as well. |

Not checking bags by itself should not get you the dreaded SSSS unless you meet another of the criteria as well. Most day packs are purse sized. Delta says Items must weigh less than 40 lbs. (approx. 18kgs). All items must fit easily in a Size Wise™ unit (approximate dimensions 22" x 14" x 9" or 56cm x 35.5 x 23cm). Personal Items include: - a male or female purse - a briefcase - a laptop/computer* - a camera case - a diaper bag - an item of a similar size or smaller size to those listed above, such as Personal Electronic Devices. *All laptop/computers must be carried aboard and cannot be checked. For information about Delta's battery-saving system for laptops, visit our laptop power adapter page. Additional Items that may be brought on board and do not count towards your allowance: - food item for immediate consumption - assistive devices such as wheelchairs or crutches, provided passenger is dependent on them - one box or bag of duty free - coat jacket - umbrella - one item of reading material Some packages, sporting goods, dangerous, fragile or bulky items may require special handling. For information on special items you want to carry on, go to the Special Baggage page. Acceptance may be limited based on available space. May be subject to additional restrictions on certain flights. If it fits the size limit I doubt that there would be any trouble. I found the absolute ban on laptops in checked luggage interesting. |
