Default ? Calling North America from Cuba

Hello fellow travelers!

We are traveling to Cuba for a week-long all-inclusive vacation at the
Breezes Jibacoa resort near Varadero and need to keep in touch with our
family back home in Canada. I suspect that calling overseas long distance
from the hotel will be very expensive and that the hotel may even charge us
for incoming long-distance calls. Is there a relatively inexpensive
alternative for calling Canada from Cuba?

Any suggestions from those who have "been there, done that" will be greatly
appreciated!

Please feel free to reply directly to "taskerov (AT) hotmail (DOT) com"!
