Balcony Aft
Has anyone had a balcony on the aft of a ship? Just curious if you liked it
or not. We're looking at RCCL Voyager Class for fall 2006. James |

James Our favorite by far, greater privacy, wake view, stunning balconies (on some). The Voyager ships are unusual and one needs to look carefully at each suite to make sure it pleases you. The Radiance class afts are to die for. http://community.webshots.com/album/48328219CtbGLi -- "The "decent, average man and woman" are only happy with cookie cutter views matching their own. Engine noise ... long treks to disembark and other places ... getting laughed at for being placed in the back of the bus ... Terrible all terrible ... I would NEVER recommend an aft balcony to anyone ever again ... They are becoming so much more in demand because of how good they are .... we've gotta stop publicizing their merits ... |

All these folks with disposable income are driving prices up up up. After 9/11 I could afford two or three cruises a year....but that is fading fast. |

NOT GOOD in rough seas
Better than being forward. ) Had the occasion to be the sixth cabin from the bow, high deck, on the NCL Majesty, a neat little 500 ft. or so ship sailing in Hawaii. Blue water Pacific waves are relatively high amplitude (in this case maybe 12 feet) and long period. The significance of this is that the first 75 - 100 feet of the ship can come out of a wave before the ship tips down the face of the wave. It was like a D ticket at Disneyland. Stern stateroom view and the grandeur of the view is worth the off chance there may be a wave problem. ) Charlie "Chrissy Cruiser" wrote in message .. . Some friends and I were on the Carnival Miracle this past February. We
had both the Cat 11 suites on the after corners and the 5 balcony cabins in between them making up the entire back of the ship. Maintenance came and removed the dividers for us and gave us the most enormous balcony you could possibly imagine! Besides being able to go from on side of the ship to he other, the balconies were extended so twice as deep as others. I'm telling ya, it was heaven! There was definately a constant vibration and it was louder than normal from the engines churning up the water. I enjoyed it but I missed the waves breaking on the sides of the ship. It's definately worth trying atleast once though. I think I'd do it again sometime down the road. |
