Help! Lemon Cheesecake
In a café in Yallingup, a small town near Margaret River, WA, we had
some absolutely delicous lemon cheese cake. Unfortunately I forgot to ask for a recipe. Tried to make one at home, but - nah - that wasn't the real stuff. Looked for recipes in Google, but you'll find dozends of different ways to make one. Some suggest to ad joghurt, some use eggs -- but what's (or where would I find) the recipe for the real[TM] Australian lemon cheese cake? Contacting them directly would be the best approach. If you don't remember the name, there are (partial?) listings at http://www.totaltravel.com.au/travel...irectory/cafes and http://www.walkabout.com.au/location...p.shtml--maybe seeing the name will jog your memory. Good luck! Nancy |

Good luck! Hi Nancy! Wow! With your second link I found the phone number of the café and I'll try and call them to get the recipe. However, I hoped for some Australian in the newsgroup who could tell me his/her recipe. Our German cheesecake is quite different to the Australian style, probably similar to what we call the "Philadelphia-Tart". I tried the recipe on www.philadelphia.de, but that wasn't by far as good as what we had in several Australian cafés. OK, I know -- usually tourists buy funny hats with corks, purses made from kangaroo-testicles and "been there - done that" T-shirts. But I still would prefer a "real Australian cheesecake"-recipe. Hmmm - probably I should look for an Australian cooking newsgroup. :-) Thanks anyway, Bego -- "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. Quite often Baked Cheesecakes are flavoured with lemon. |
