Slightly lower? The cuts have totaled about 40% haven't they?

The highest paid Boeing 777 captain on Delta got $216 per hour with a

Yes, the last give-back was only a slight decrease. Southwest pays
their pilots well, but you also note that they get more hours out of
them in a month. That translates into lower overhead costs per
employee, since they need fewer to supply their services.

My point is that the world has changed for the pilots on the legacy
carriers, and they still talk like the good times are sure to return.
That isn't likely.

The changes also have taken years to negotiate, and the company had to
go into bankruptcy to force the last round. Hence why I said that
Eastern and PanAm were doomed with deregulation. They couldn't make the
necessary changes fast enough to survive.
