Default Discount air travel in Europe; London airports

My friends are 1/2 way between London city and Heathrow. (I could get
the town's name of course, but don't have it now). Which non-LHR
airports will be good from there?

The problem with public transport in London is that the radial links
are very good and the tangential links are poor. In other words, it's
almost always faster to travel via the center of London to get from A
to B than taking the direct route.

All airports are pretty much the same distance from there. Stanstead
may take a little longer to get to, but not much. Gatwick will be the
closest if you're driving.
