I saw on CCTV the striking of the oldest bell in Beiijing (108
times!) Where else in BJ can you do that? This year, because of the tsunami, there are fewer people and the ringing is subdued. Maybe Shanghai is still in the mood to party. HK cancelled the fireworks and is taking this harder. I think the HK news which is less sentimental than CNN is tearing up their audience. The details are really tough and ugly and the foreseeable ripple effects are going to be terrible in the region. |
