single day, but never on french speaking groups.

30 years in France and not a single word, preferring british expats (some
brit he makes) and invading every corner of the Web.
This is not what I call integration, such immigrants are completely useless
to the country, Sarkozy knows that.

But then,...He has the $$$$ and lives in the posh parts, we're not exactly
talking about Drancy/Bobigny, are we??

Oh, he has a friend in Ghana, did you know?

Runge case clear: Jury says guilty in 1 hour

February 11, 2006

BY STEFANO ESPOSITO Staff Reporter

"Nothing appeared to unsettle Paul Runge on Friday -- not a sneering,
sarcastic prosecutor yelling and accusing him of being a shrewd,
methodical killer.

And not -- at least to the eye -- a Cook County jury's guilty verdict
in just one hour, finding the accused serial killer guilty in the
savage 1997 murders of Yolanda Gutierrez, 35, and her 10-year-old
daughter, Jessica Muniz, on the Northwest Side.

As he had throughout much of the trial, Runge sat almost motionless,
eyes downcast and elbows resting on the table in front of him.

But now, after the two-week trial, a jury will begin on Tuesday to hear
evidence in the death penalty phase of Runge's trial.

Moments after the verdict, the victims' family -- some simultaneously
crying and smiling -- hugged outside the courtroom.

"We're all very happy about the verdict," said Gutierrez's father,
Ramon Rivera. "We didn't have any doubts the man was guilty. We were
just waiting for the second phase to see what would happen to him."

Prosecutor mocks illness claim

During closing arguments, defense attorney Lisa Boughton said her
client has a "broken mind that needs to be repaired." She described his
confessions to investigators as a "mix of fact and fantasy."

But prosecutors asked the jury to reject the defense argument that
Runge was either insane or mentally ill when he raped the victims
repeatedly, slashed their throats and then set their apartment on fire
to try to hide his crime.

"Don't get caught up in the horror that is Paul Runge," said prosecutor
John Dillon. "Don't make the jump that only a crazy person could do
this."

Dillon repeatedly mocked Runge's contention that he is at the mercy of
a mental illness -- sexual sadism. Dillon described it as an oddly
convenient affliction that only manifests itself when Runge knows his
victim is vulnerable and Runge thinks he won't get caught.

5 more murder trials pending

Prosecutors said Runge checked out Gutierrez's apartment -- using the
ruse of buying a learning-to-read kit she was selling -- and returned
several days later to kill and rape.

At times, prosecutors paraded gruesome crime-scene photos before the
jury and played snippets of Runge's videotaped confession that jurors
heard during the trial.

At one point, Runge is heard talking about the Gutierrez rape as though
it was consensual, flirty sex.

"How dare he? The audacity of him!" Dillon boomed. "Going into their
home and raping her . . . while her 10-year-old daughter is watching,
and he's telling you 'she's into it?' "

Runge awaits trial in the murders of five other women in Cook and
DuPage counties that allegedly occurred between 1995 and 1997."

Indeed, gRunge brought up the issue of "madness", which
he demonstrates in himself and it may well be a family problem.

It is gone into by both the defense and prosecution in the
trial.

they always do.

During closing arguments, defense attorney Lisa Boughton said her

This is also true. The psychopaths can be legally sane, but so far
from the norm as to appear "crazy". They act "Like a madman".
